PedWest reopening means shorter wait times crossing the border

SAN YSIDRO, Calf. (KGTV) — These other people were the first to stroll via the Pedestrian West front since April 2020, and virtually on a daily basis for the closing 3 years, they have got needed to get up early and wait in lengthy strains at PedEast.

“This one was closed the different one was open so that’s why there used to be an extended line over there,” stated Miguel Hernandez, a Tijuana resident.

It steadily made them overdue for work.

“The worst one time was four hours. It used to be a line wrapped round up the hill - it was once stupid,” mentioned Jason Henderson.

For some, it was so bad they had to quit their jobs.

“Some people that paintings right here they stopped working, some of them. Imagine the economy for them, their households,” mentioned Maria Léon, a Las Americas employee.

But on Monday, they got to sleep in and did not need to wait in line.

“Instead of waking up at 3:30 in the morning, I got to wake up at 5," Hernandez said. "I even got time to make breakfast for myself.”

This is great for workers, and their shoppers. Those running close by expect this reopening to usher in business.

“Sales went down truly unhealthy," Léon said. "I'm hoping the whole lot gets better now.”

“Hopefully the wait times get lower down," said Antonio Angel, a Tijuana resident. "That’s what I’m hoping for.”
